Rex worked for the state of Kansas for 26 years within the Departments of Transportation and Health and Environment.  Responsibilities included road construction inspection, data processing, and database team management reporting. Yet serving in ministry in the church during these years continued to fulfill his heart for discipleship.

In 2006 God confirmed the call to full-time ministry on his life.  Since then, Rex volunteered in a pastoral role as a music leader and ministering to young adult and middle-aged adult families, along with connections ministry. He was ordained into the Church of the Nazarene on July 22, 2021, at the Kansas City District Assembly.

Regardless of the opportunity, ministry is his heart, and he encourages all to love God and others through serving as the Lord provides the opportunity.

Rex and his wife Lisa have been married since 1989. They have two adult daughters; Mariah (married to Dalton Young) and Amanda. In whatever spare time he has, Rex enjoys watching the KC Royals, KC Chiefs, KU basketball, and movies with his family.
